lower ball joint boot source

I have an entire knuckle assembly with a good lower ball joint but the boot is torn. What's the chance of finding a boot that fits at NAPA or is it a dealer item only?

Febi used to "make" them but I can't really recommend their rubber products. (So OK it is some kind of silicone thing - but perhaps you get my drift?)

Dealer.
Probably cheaper just to buy a ball joint from the usual sources use the boot and throw away the ball joint.

Yes but it is unclear which bit should really go in the bin!

I know what you mean. I just got finished rebuilding a steering rack ( manual ) on my '81 VW Rabbit Convertible ( Cabriolet). It appears the PO had replaced the inner and outer tie rods fairly early on with , I think MOOG, greaseable tie rods. They must be 20 years old and still good, and the boots are thick ( and being greaseable, the old grease just slops out the bottom). I wish they were all still like these.
