Rear diff. ratio 1984 190D vs. 1987 190E

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the rear diff. gearing of a 1984 190D and a 1988 190E. I'm doing a conv. and would like an idea of what to expect?? Thanks

Yes there is the 190D has a 3.49 and the 190E has a 3.27 this means you'll be slower off the line but you'll be getting better mileage

At some point the 190's went from a 14" wheel to a 15" wheel so the height difference of the tires has to be factored into the equation also.

Does anybody have a neat listing of the different wheel and differentials that came in the '84 - '93 190's?

A few questions:

What does my 190E 2.6 (1993) have on it?
To achieve higher milage, what would I change it up to?
How much of an increase in fuel economy would I expect to see?

No any changes of the ratios of the main gear between models with 14" and 15" wheels. Because 175/70 has almost identical ride height (with 185/65 about 2.3 mm lower) with 185/65 tires.

Salut!

Here's what I found..

http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu167/slapheads/190edifferentialratios.jpg

Lower gear ratio = slower off the line, lower rpms at speed, better mpg?
Higher gear ratio = faster off the line, higher rpms at speed...
