Question Brake squeeling when turning...

I searched and searched and quite frankly, couldn't come up with anything quite like this before...

Now everyone's probably heard of brakes squeeling. But on mine, they also started squeeling when I make a left turn! This is with no foot on the pedal, and many times not even slowing down by off-throttling. Fast or slow, it happens...and usually after about 15-30 mins of driving. It doesn't happen when I first start off.

I'll be checking pads on the left to have a look, but thought I should check in here too. Theories anyone?

Perhaps caliper seal. I have heard it said that the caliper piston seals act as a return spring for the brake pads. Worn seals can allow the pads to come in contact with the rotor and could squeal. And drag causing premature brake system wear. I would look for a dirty wheel. One with lots of brake dust. Check that seal first.

... if it's squeal on a turn, I'd look at the wheel bearings. get a dial indicator set, and measure the play...

Wheel bearings eh! Never thought of that. I should add though that the sound is exactly the same as the brakes when it sometimes comes on when braking at the lights or behind slowing traffic. This is why I thought it was the brakes that was somehow dragging on the turns.

The thing I couldn't figure out was what would make the brake drag on turns?

And if its wheel bearings, would they be affected by braking? Perhaps that would explain the squealing at straight-line braking as well?

oh, it could still be a stuck caliper, or bad brake pad/rotor, but if turning causes the noise to appear, the bearings have to be allowing the rotor to move. hence checking the bearings!

it could also be the caliper mount bolts are loose... they have to be cleaned and fresh blue loctite installed each time they are removed.

If the wheel bearings are loose the wheel will run slighty out of plane with the caliper when going around a corner causing a squeak.

I agree that the run out, or movement of the hub relative to the caliper, will cause the pad to contact the disk on a turn. Assuming the bearings are adjusted properly, this is normal and helps back the pads off the disk. The squeaking of the brakes is probably a function of the composition of the pads. If your brakes squeak, you might want to try different pads the next time.
