trap oxidizer // w126
i purchased a 300sdl a while back. was curious as to whether the trap oxidizer recall had been performed on my car. a search here revealed http://www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/trapoxr.HTM
sure enough my auto had gone through the recall. my question; this recall occured in what approximate time frame? |

The original trap oxidizers were a free warranty replacement item every 30,000 miles. Mercedes came up with the permanent replacement catalyst for both the 5 and 6 cylinder engines in the mid 90's and retrofited them as the cars came in for the regular oxidizer replacement. Depending upon the mileage of your car and the point at which it was taken in for the oxidizer replacement you automatically got the catalyst upgrade. If you want to know exactly take your registration with VIN number into the local dealer service dept. and ask them to check their system to tell you when it was done. They keep a national record of all warranty work done (which includes the catalyst upgrade.)
