#5 fuel injector line taps.

Not that I can hear it, but if I place my finger on each fuel line coming from the injection pump to the injectors, I can't feel anything... except for #5. When I touch it, there is a very noticeable tapping feeling. Like it's being lightly tapped with a hammer. Does this mean anything?

For the record, my idle is not the best. A little ruff for my taste. Could this be it?

Probably the clamp that holds it in place is loose or the rubber bit needs replacing.

Thanks Layback40, I'll check the clamps and see if one is loose. As far a the "rubber bit", not sure what you are referring to here as I am unaware of any rubber components or connectors on the fuel injection lines. Please do elaborate for me.

Thanks!

No problems dave, There should be little rubber things between the hard lines & brackets that hold them in place. If not, the vibration can damage the hard line & make them leak.

Swap the positions of the #1 and #5 Injectors. If the tapping moves to #1 you have an Injector problem.

I think cousindave76 is describing a problem on a 617 engine.
The 61X engines do not have a rubber pad on the injector line clamps.
The 60X engines do.

Correct, this is a 617. I've never seen rubber bumpers on engines like mine so I'm pretty sure the plastic clips are all that should be there.

Trany is out

An unfortunate turn of events has caused a total loss of trany fluid while underway (just posted a new thread on it). Unfortunately I'll have to solve this problem first before getting back to this thread. Thanks for the input folks!
