Getting there but How do I fix or adjust the Alda 85 300D

Hi guys,

So whats the deal with the Alda. My car only come to life after 2000 rpm.
I also think it might Idle too low (shake on red light) almost like a farm tractor.

I did adjusted the valves, Diesel purge, banjo bolt clean, air filter, fuel filter... The basic or good tune up.

Car is better than when I got it, but It is still very sluggish specially below 2000RPM. I start boosting around 2000 RPM and will boost 8-9 psi max boost. Power delivery is also not very linear once the turbo it, it get violent

I also have intermittent leak on my prime pump. Anybody as a part number so I can order one from the dealer.

One more thing when my car shift, sometimes not always I hear from the transmission a whistling sound. I know it runs on vaccum but should I hear it working ?

Thanks guys.

Check it out not many of these in Canada specially in Montreal

Hi there, glad to help you out with the number. You know that "Fastlane" who sponsors this Forum also sells a lot of parts, and even if it is difficult to get them to ship to Canada, you can use there online catalog, see top of page,
'' BUY PARTS". Under German car types you will find Mercedes and you can take it from there. It is a great resource and shows great pictures of each part. So, "Buy Parts" shows this, primer pump, Bosch, Pt Number WO 133-1715211 selling for $18.38 plus shipping. You might just goggle that part number and see if someone in Canada is selling that part at Amazon or on Ebay. The dealer will probably want big bucks for that little pump. OK, that car is beautiful! Yes sir, take good care of that one. Regarding the alda, do a little research here on the Forum Diesel section and you will find out about as much as most of us know about the Alda. It is a very sensitive little device, sometimes just tweaking that screw on top will improve the running. Some people feel it runs as well with out the Alda. Your transmsission does have a vacuum modulator which is designed only to soften the shifts. Shifts can get pretty harsh without the modulator, but that is all it does. You know that these 300D's are not hot rods. They run good, but take a little more time to get going. They have about the same 0 to 60 time as a 51 Ford or Mercury or about 18 seconds 0 to 60. Take it out on a back road and see how close you are. You might just be expecting to much.

PeachParts FastLane Mercedes Parts Store

And:
1985 Mercedes Benz 300d Product Categories - Peachparts

First item is the usual culprit for a shaky engine, once warmed up.

Second is the new style primer pump.

Your ALDA may need adjustment. Is there a black cap on the top?

If so, it hasn't been touched.

If not, it has been adjusted.

Turn the screw CCW a half turn after loosening the lock nut. Try accelerating then.
