dash gauges quit. 87 190 help please

unable to find any info in the archieves. The tach and fuel gauge stopped working at the same time today. I was charging my battery with battery in car and connected. It is a 87 190D2.5 turbo. What is common to the fuel gauge and tach that I may have damaged? Checked 10amp fuse behind battery and it is okay
