Hydraulic pump frustration
I bought a kit from someone who was recommended and I rebuilt the pump with all the o-rings and seal. It was pumping hydro fluid into the engine. That fixed it up great. Put it back on tightened everything up cross wise to get a good level seat on the front o-ring seal. Start it up, sit on the back and voila! It levels, that and thanks to Andrew for the valve rebuild seal kit, which went in just as advertised and the back doesn't sag the next day. Next morning open up the hood and what do I see? That's right, hydro oil on the vacuum pump, hmmm.
Okay, I can fix this. Find out that the o-ring is a 2-1/8 ID with a 2-5/16 OD and I pick two up at a local Hydraulic supply company for $1.06 and its off to the races again. I get it all apart and put the new one in, the previous "new" one looked like it had a fringe around it, figuring I screwed up somewhere with how I tightened it down, meticulously being careful not to tighten one side more than the other and.....yep, still leaks! It's definately coming from between the two halves and it drips under the pump. Put your hand down there, very hot, and fingers have a 1/2 tsp of oil. What am I doing wrong here? Has this happened to anyone here? Other forums stated that they went to a "slightly larger" thickness, but the difference is 3/32 to the next size, 1/8, and it looks too big. I got to drive 3 hrs tomorrow and time is of the essence. Thanks Todd
