1995 S350D Rough Idle/Powerloss

I love my W140!

As of lately the old gal has started to lose power over time. Today is worse than usual... push the pedal while cruising 60 MPH on the highway and it doesnt go any faster. She is in need of some attention. I am just curious where to start. I have had the car for 15k miles and done just oil changes.

She has 190k miles on the clock

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you researched the symptoms of bent rods? I don't know anything about those engines other than that most people say to avoid them because they all seem to fail prematurely. Might be time to swap the engine in from a 300sdl if that's the case.

Might try a new fuel filter, then maybe move on to compression tests.

How much oil does it use between changes?

Do a search on checking the boost signal from the intake manifold to the ALDA. Could be something simple like a blocked line or more complicated like an EGR problem causing EDS to cut boost. It's a darn slow car when the turbo isn't helping.

Check for a restriction in the exhaust. I bought a 300SDL from an older gentlemen with a clogged cat, the turbo wouldnt spool and it would only get to around 45 MPH.

As with all diesels change the fuel filters first. Even if not the problem you pretty well always should do this first. Especially if you have no method of checking the base fuel pressure in the injection pump installed.
