1981 300d kickdown switch

Guys I've been experiencing some oddness with shifts... 1 to 2 comes too soon. 2 to 3 a little too late. Then 3 to 4 too soon. With flaring when the car warms up. I can let off the accelerator as it shifts to prevent the flare.

I've noticed that my kickdown switch no longer works. Any chance it's related and how could I confirm or deny?

I checked pressure at the modulator. It was 60 at idle which I lowered to 40 and it seems like the shifts have actually become even weaker despite 40 being more so the correct pressure.
