W124 central locking pump run time

The central locking pump in the '87 300D runs longer and longer. It's up to a good 10 count these days, longer than it takes the glow light to extinguish. Does it have logic to detect leaks or is the timer circuit dying? I only notice for unlocking. I haven't sat in the car to see how long the pump runs when locking. Thoughts?
