1985 300D Oil Drain Tube / Other Questions
Just bought a totally rust free southern '85 300D, but its got plenty of mechanical issues.
The first thing I noticed was the oil drain back tube for the PCV that the airbox connects to was not hooked up. I jiggled the tube and it moves and awful lot, it felt like I pulled it out of the top of the oil pan. I didn't have the opportunity to jack it up and mess with it yet. Is there some kind of bracket that should be holding it in place? Does anyone have a picture of the side of the later 617 showing the tube? The turbo and exhaust manifold appear to have been replaced so my thought it someone didn't bolt the tube back down. The car is sitting at my dads house two hours away because I didn't want to drive it very far before we bled the brakes and fixed the oil tube issue. Tachometer isn't working, nor at the glow plugs. I was going to start by looking at the OVP, on the 85s it is inside the cabin in the passenger foot well correct? The car has a bunch of vacuum leaks I am fixing, but there is this tube by the EGR that goes nowhere, and there is nothing nearby that it appears it could go to, does anyone recognize it? ![]() There are also these two connections that are electrical that also seem to go nowhere ![]() ![]() Some pics of the car, already got the trim for the door, and we are going to go with euro headlights. I know the rockers should be black, its a respray but its a rust free shell which is why I bought the car. ![]() ![]()
