Bad lifters about 90 percent sure om603

What's the chances the cam lobes are destroyed and I have to pick up another cam? I feel those are very hard to find. I picked the car up for my gf, it was a cheap deal. She doesn't want to spend a whole ton of money on it's just so she can drive something while I'm fixing her e300.

When lifters fail the 603 eats cams. It's pretty hard to avoid although it can be ignored. Last I checked a new cam was around $350. All the 603 cams I've seen in the JY had wear on some lobes.

It really sort of depends on how long it's been driven with them failed and how bad they are. Pull the valve cover and check out the cam, if it looks in good shape then you can install new lifters.

I had a couple of sunk lifters on my 602, and the cam survived. You won't know until you look.

15w40 M1 Delvac Truck Oil worked. It quieted them down a LOT. Still hear it however. Should I give it some time and another oil change before I go replacing lifters? They were very noisy after starting from the oil change but quieted down not long after.
