Smile OM606- engine oil change

99 E300 Turbodiesel, car came with no users manual, didnt find service manual yet either...would like to change engine oil and filter..its like basics..i did searched forum..all kinds of threads come up, but....not 2 things:
-how much oil engine needs
-which oil
i do remember while ago reading thread about Mobil1, synthetic engine oil 10W40..cant find it again..checked mobil1 site..thats what they recommend..make sence with our 10kmiles service intervals set in cars computer...well, sorry for this basic question, but cant find an answer..ALOHA
.
almost forgot..saw today at Wallmart Mobil1 Turbodiesel Truck 5Qt for $29, is this one better, or just Mobil1 10W-40 as their site says?

I use Mobil 1 Turbodiesel Truck 5W-40 I think. It takes 8 quarts so make sure you have a large enough drain container to avoid a mess!

I also believe you will need a large socket (I think 42mm large) to remove the cover for the oil filter element.

The filter cap is 36mm. Rotella is not an approved oil; M1 European Blend 0W/40 was the factory fill.

You can download an owners manual from MBUSA's site.

I thought that the Oil and Filter change time depended on the type of driving you do?

Short trips with stop and go City driving or extensive high speed driving shorten the Oil Change time.

Correct.

One of the OBDII reported parameters is calculated load. It's probably more complicated than this but in my mind, I imagine some sort of load/time calculation that controls how fast the service mileage racks up.

1998 E300D, use the same oil - Mobil 1 turbo diesel 5w-40. Yes, it takes 8 quarts.
