96 W210 E300d: surging between gears cold

tried a search, but did not knwo where to start.

I've got a new problem… I’ve reworked the fuel delivery system to take WVO, but I have not put a drop of oil in it yet.

It idles fine. Cruses down the interstate fine, so I know it’s getting fuel.
When It’s cold, it really surges and loses power and sounds like it has the Wa Wa’s then it will shift, RPM’s drop and it’s fine until I reach the next stop sign and start the gears again. It seems to be 2nd into 3rd.
Problem almost goes away when it’s worm and non-problem hot.

Best guess where to start? Air in fuel (as I just re-ran all the lines) or Trans? but it could very well be the plastic fittings. they all seem snug, but I pulled them, and re-instated them several times as I was laying out my new lines.

I don’t think its air, as it idles like a top and does fine once I’m cruising even if it’s not quite hot.

might be part of the vacuum or emissions system?

Check the vacuum lines to the flaps on the crossover and the egr valve.
