Mono wiper motor

I was having trouble with my wiper going across my window. About a year ago, I shot fresh lithium grease in the turtle shell housing, since mine is really hard to get to (have to take the entire unit out).

Though that helped, it didn't fix the problem. So yesterday, I took the entire unit out, opened it up properly, cleaned it all, put in new grease, etc.

I put it all back in, tried it, and ..... slow wiper again. Reluctant to go across the windshield unless it's wet, but even the 1st time or 2 before it gets going, it's sluggish.

Is it possible the motor needs new brushes (I thought it wouldn't work at all by this time, if that were the case), or do the motors simply get weak over time, or could it be anything else? An impaired fuse, or something? The intersections of the arms on the entire wiper arm assembly apparently doesn't need lubed, as it looks pretty much like they're sealed joints.

Any thoughts?

Found the answer on my own

Since nobody responded back to my post, I'm responding back for the sake of anyone who needs this in the future.....

Since I couldn't find out (or figure out how to check) if my motor needed new brushes, one mechanic told me he'd never heard of one of those motors failing. So I'm going on the hopes that he's right.

That said, I did take the top of the motor off, the big round part that's easy to get to that rotates and moves the actual wiper assembly, and glad I did. Once open, simply push the rotating bolt through the backside of the motor, and take out the inside flywheel, etc. of the motor. There was old grease inside that had gotten very sticky, just the opposite of what you want. So I scraped that all out, and put in new.

The other part that was a problem once I put the motor back together, was the ball joint on the wiper arm assembly; the small 3" arm that connects with the bigger arm where it has a grease boot. The ball joint had gotten fairly stiff, so I shot some silicone oil on that, worked it in and then wiped off the dirty sludge that came out. After that, I shot some lithium spray on it, and finally put some new grease all around that, then put the boot back on.

Between lubing the motor flywheel and that one ball joint, that really helped. I tore apart the "turtle shell" gearing a day prior, and the wiper was still slow to go across, and now is able to go across the windshield with greater ease.
