Would you buy a car that was once owned by a mechanic?

I found a car on CL that has peaked my interest. When I spoke to the owner, he said that he has owned the car for two years and that he got it from a friend who was a Mercedes mechanic. I've always assumed that it's better to buy cars that were maintained by owners who threw money at mechanics without question as opposed to mechanics doing as little as possible just to keep it on the road. But then again, maybe since the mechanic/owner knows the car very well they get the job done right.
