#22 head

What would I expect to pay for a good used #22 head with injectors + cam and lifters? TIA.

I paid $500 for a #17 in same condition so probably more than that.

#22 heads have been known to be sold at $1000.00 or more.

The last 2 I sold went for $900 each. That was without the injectors

Thumbs up

I have paid $30-50 for updated 603 heads in the parts yards. It is just another aluminum head to them.

$1000 area seems reasonable for the No 22, depending how complete and if pressure tested. I have sold 17s and 18s for $700-850 complete with camshaft, lifters, and injectors. Not many people have that sort of cabbage to dump on a head BEFORE parts to install the thing and if they want it gone over fully at a machine shop, so you would have to wait for the right purchaser to come along.

Thanks all!

I actually have a complete extra OM603 engine with a #22 head on it, thinking of selling it and wanted to know what it would cost me to replace that head. Because as you all know, it's only after you sell something that you find out that you need it.

Also trying to put a fair value on the engine. I may eBay it this week. FWIW, I've seen 22 heads go for more than the prices mentioned here on eBay in the past, but need to know what the CURRENT market is. Thanks again.

Just because you saw that price on ebay does not mean the seller actually received funds. I have seen time and time again shill bidders in auctions there, driving up the cost to an inflated price...just to see the item relisted again and again and again.

Mine sold about 12-18 months back if I had to guess.

The 603 engine will sell more with the #22 head on it; than if you replace the head and then sell the engine. The difference may not be worth the efforts unless you REALLY want to keep the #22 head.

If I had a spare 603 engine with a #22 head on it and room to store it; I'd just keep the whole engine intact.

I would not mind keeping it but storage is an issue and I could use the $$ more than the outside chance of needing a spare OM603 engine in what remains of this lifetime.
