85 300TD, back after 9 years
Thought I'd share this. I'm putting an 85 Wagon back in service after better than 9 years. It's been sitting outside since, well you can see the inspection sticker.
When I parked it everything worked except cruise, and the vacuum locks and blower were getting twitchy. The car lost very little considering how long it's sat. Everything still works, although I've lost the vacuum locks entirely. The paint is more tired, but it had issues 9 years ago. The interior stayed dry aside from a little leaking at the 1/4 window seals, and the seats are a bit more faded. The car needs a windshield, but that also was true 9 years ago. Rust issues are surprisingly relatively unchanged. I have patches to weld in the floor pan in two locations, but they are no worse than when parked. The L Rear 1/4 panel and the well under the battery tray each need a patch about fist sized that are worse. There is some rust intervention to be done around both 1/4 windows and a the hatch glass, but since the car needs rubber everywhere the glass has to come out anyway. The engine is still extrememy strong, it had always been religiously maintained, and shows it. Michael
