Are a 300E and a 300D 2.5 chassis the same?

I have a wrecked 1992 300D 2.5 that needs clipped, my body guy wants to replace the first few inches of the car with a clip from another car but all that is available at junkyards that cut up cars are gas versions.

Looking at them they look the same, can anyone confirm or deny?

Every 300d/300e looked the same to me. I gave a front bumperfrom a 300e (87) to a fellow who bolted it right up to his 300d (87?)wagon.

I know for a fact the headlights interchange.

They are the same except for the fact that the diesel has the vented RF fender for the air intake, which isn't really a chassis issue.

The fenders and hood on the 300D are fine they were replaced when the car was "rebuilt" years before I bought it. However whoever rebuilt it did an atrocious job, they didn't use a frame rack, they used a cutting torch so with the bumper off the frame guy saw what a mess it was.

I may just part the car out, kind of a shame its a rust free car that is straight from the fenders back.
