Question w123 heat issue

In my 1983 300cd i either have full heat or nothing. The blower speeds work perfect, the air comes out where it should but right when you click it off "min" the air coming out gets really hot and it does not matter where the wheel is. A/C works great btw. Is there a problem with the monovalve or the temp sending unit thing on the dash? I should not be complaining because i have both heat and a/c but i have to use my windows as a temp mixing device haha any suggestions are much appreciated!

it sounds like not all your vent positions are working. the heat flap should regulate your temp. it could also be the temp wheel, they are known to fail. pulling the ccu, and resoldering the wheel may solve the issue.

What heat flap?

Temperature regulation on the subject vehicle is accomplished via the monovalve and fan speed control.

Remove the glove compartment and check that the aspiration tube to the temperature sensor in the dash has not disintegrated. It had to be replaced in both 123's I've owned. A piece of 1/2" pipe insulation works just fine. Without the air flow, the CCU does not know the temperature in the car.

Check the connections at the monovalve and the monovalve.

i had this exact same problem. i had both a bad monovalve and a bad temperature control unit. that one is rarely mentioned. it's located directly behind the glove compartment. its a silver box, about the size of a wallet.
