does anybody recognize this part
I am putting my 1983 300d back together after a nightmare job of dropping timing chain when doing maintenance. I am almost back together but I have a part that I am not sure of. I am attaching a picture if you can help.

Looks like pins from the timing chain. Did you have to cut a link to remove it?

These pins are around 2 inches long and half the diameter of a pencil

Are the ends threaded?
It's been a long time since I did one of those chains but for some reason I'm remembering the actual guide rail has a couple of pins which look similar. They hold the metal side plates together. Could just be my bad memory though. I believe the tensioner just pushes on a "shoe" but on the other side of the gear it is an actual guide assembly where the chain passes through a "sandwich" style assembly.

I do not think these are guide pins, they are not threaded on the ends, they are solid pins.
