james bond smoke screen
Well I took my 85 190d out for a spin after reassembling the dash and straightening the wheel. Got it up to 90 on the freeway and cruised for about 20miles then let off abruptly. The car behind me got a full james bond smoke screen in two blasts. I was a touch embarrassed when he passed by and glared at me. I tried to repeat it several times but no luck getting any smoke at all. I even tried to repeat it by spooling it up in 2nd and letting off but still no smoke. This was not a mere puff now but 2 full blown lane filling clouds. Any Ideas?

Could have been carbon in the cylinders or prechambers getting blasted out from the change in throttle....other than that, no idea why it would do that....maybe the EGR opened and fed in some previously built up soot all at once? Usually its the opposite and it blasts while at high output. Your 190d can go 90mph? I think mine is limited more by the 3.07 differential I have in it, highest I have reached so far is about 82-83. I have adjusted things since then though, I should try again sometime.
