SMOKE 'EM IF YOU GOT 'EM
I have a '95 300D and every morning I start it, it smokes like a chimney until it warms up a little. After that its completely fine, no loss of power or mpg's. Any suggestions?

Color of smoke?
|
Check/replace heater-plugs, their controller and its supplies. Check Injection Timing/chain for stretch.
Check atomisation of injectors/have re-built. |
Smoke is white.
|
Double check that the smoke does not smell sweet. If it smells sweet it's coolant. If the smoke is really. A light grey, then it's unburied fuel.

I like to make black smoke when I jump on the pedal

Not sure where you are, benzo, in a hot or warm place, but what you are describing sounds like glow plugs, or lack thereof. If you are in a cold place and your glow plugs are not working, you probably won't be able to start. If you are in a hot area, it will probably start without glow plugs but smoke for a while until the cylinders warm up.
