43rd worst car of all time, the 300SD!

100 Worst Cars of All Time - Edmunds.com

I stumbled upon this while searching for my own for sale thread, unfortunately! How sad, we're number 43 on the list, above the Chevette and Lumina APV.

Criminal!! It is a W116 though. The list is at least validated for me in that it shares my # 1 pick: the Aztek.

They may all be bad but if you ever owned a Peugeot diesel, as I have that would be right near the top of the list.

Their complaint is its power output? The 617 makes plenty of power. Now a 240...

I never cease to be amazed by people saying they "need" 300hp in their car or minivan, and then they proceed to drive like it has 25hp. I accelerate faster than most people from traffic lights....in my 190d! With 73HP! Mind boggling.

My "terribly built" Plymouth Volare gave me incredibly reliable service for 15 years. (Sold it only because I had too may cars for a cross-country move.) And I have a family member that just sold his originally-owned 1978 Volare station wagon this year. And it was still in service.

I once had a car like that - a Morris Marina 1.8 super - very much hated by Top Gear but it just went on and on and on...

The Dodge Aspen and Plymouth Volare were essentially the same car. But Consumer Reports rated one as much better than the other.

How many modern car buyers ever use the last quarter of pedal travel?

It has a full range for a reason in our diesels, and yes sometimes we explore it or need it.

This gave me a chuckle:

"72. 1974 Bricklin SV-1: Malcolm Bricklin promised a safe sports car. He delivered a plastic, gullwing-doored weirdo with the suspension and powertrain of an AMC Hornet. Makes the DeLorean look like an engineering magnum opus.

I suspect that whoever put that list together never drove one. I have always thought that the 79 300SD was one of the better driving diesel MB ever produced.

Worst car????

I suppose you can get a lemon every now and again, but my W116 has undoubtedly proven itself a worthy machine....
