Copper Radiator
I have an all metal radiator from a W116 300SD, shorter, wider, larger companion oil coolerl, lI was going to put it in my 1982. Sent it to the shop, they tested it, cleaned it, tested it again and it's full of holes. $400 to re-core it. ? is, is it worth it to run an all metal radiator, and the larger oil cooler that fits with it?

I guess it depends on how much better the copper one might be and how much $ the aluminum one is. Copper is great at transferring heat but how much better is something very hard to figure out as the construction of the radiators differ. Of course, if I could get a copper radiator for my 1995 E300D for the same price and the stock aluminum one I would do it.

Hmmmm....If you went with a 'quality' plastic/aluminum radiator, then you should be fine, but what is 'quality' anymore????

don't forget that copper & alum produce different chemical reactions, and that is another factor to take into consideration

Overtightening the clamps are tough on the plastic tanks too, FWIW....
