Driveshaft Swap?????

Anyone know if a 4 flange drive shaft , say from a 95 E420, would fit on my 95 E300D with a 3 flange drive shaft trans and Diff. Just wondering if the flanges have the same splines, length, threads etc...also does the Diff. have the same gear ratio?
