curious have u ran used vege oel or U ATF?
it'll double your mileage, but is greasy, messy, stinky and u need a reliable source.

Been keeping rpm's below 2700 (65mph with 3.07:1 axle and 215/70R14 tires = 2614 rpm) during highway cruising.

My 220 mile daily commute begins at 4,200 ft/asl and descends through the high desert to my 475 ft/asl destination, a drop of 3.725 ft/asl in elevation, with a 3.725 ft/asl climb on the return trip.

In consideration of the fact I drive the car over 1,000 miles a week, I could immediately tell the fuel economy was better, just by feel, but I wanted to confirm the numbers.

When filling the tank, I always fill to the top of the neck until no more fuel can be introduced. This 1/2 tank reflacts 100% highway driving with no idling or in-town trips. While checking at 1/2 tank may or may not be considered accurate, here are the numbers:

300 miles driven at 1/2 tank indicated - 9.165 gallons consumed - 32.7330 mpg

Now, with the 2.47:1 axle, 65mph will only be 2108 rpm, so I will be able to increase my speed to 80mph (a more freeway friendly speed out here in California) and be turning 2600 rpm, so I don't know if the mileage will increase from the swap, but I can drive faster at the same rpm, which is great, since I am practically run over by Big Rigs & Mini Coopers while driving 65mph out here.

I will check mileage again when this tank is totally depleted and report my findings...

300SD,

I have used ATF and 2-Stroke Pre-Mix at 55:1 concentrations (with #2 diesel) and I have also ran 100% virgin vegetable oil, peanut oil and canola oil in this engine, over its 70,000 mile lifespan, as an experimentation.

The mileage did not change much, perhaps 1.0 mpg on these alternative fuels, but combustion was much quieter...Robert

Seems really good for such heavy car. I filled up with B20 and managed to burn 5.7 Gallons after 205 miles iirc, so ~38mpg with a decent fuel leak at the delivery valve holders o-rings. Thats 90% highway.

Filled up yesterday.

513 miles on 15.072 gallons = 34.0366 MPG.....

On this tankful of straight #2 without any additives, I kept my rpm's between 2200 and 2700 all the time. This includes 7 miles of in-town driving to get to the freeway (going) and 10 miles of in-town driving to get to the shop from the freeway, plus the 110 mile one-way commute.

Keeping the rpm's around 2300-2500 seems to yield the best economy...Robert
