Delivery valve socket?

This is probably a longshot...

Is anyone here in Reno and, if so, do you have a the special splinned socket for removing the delivery valve holders on the OM603? Could I borrow/buy it from you?

I haven't checked out prices online but its probably more than I want to pay for a one time use thing. Also I'd like to get it sooner rather than later.

Also Im replacing a leaking power steering fluid return hose. The only hose ive been able to find here is a non-wrapped hose 10mm made by Parker rated to 350 psi and the guy told me it is rated to 250 degrees F. Will it work? The fluid shouldn't make it disintegrate eh?

Cheers dieselheads!

the return hose should be fine. pretty much any hydraulic hose will work. it's never got more than 10psi on it...
the socket is for sale in the tool section of this forum. around $30 I just bought one for myself, I've got 4 603's to rebuild...
I think it's also available on the tool rental forum to borrow for like $5 plus shipping both ways...

The Socket fits M type Fuel Injection Pumps. I think that goes back to even the early 240Ds that don't have the MW IPs.

only the euro N/A 616/617 engines came with the M type injection pump that uses this socket. but yes, if there is an M type pump, the socket will universally fit.
the MW pump has 6 sides DV valve holders... the M pump has the 32 spline holders...

I purchased a spline socket from my local Snap On dealer and it is like 1 or 2 teeth too big, maybe its for the w123.

dv socket-frugal yankee edition

line up 2 shackles on a deep socket you don't care too much about, tack it on two sides & when it is cool, you are good to go.

This one will work. Laser Tool 5471 Fuel Injection Pump Socket 33 pt Spline 1/2"Drive

It is likely made in China but I have one and it is entirly adequate for the job. It is made of good Steel but the Torque on the Delivery Valve Holders is tiny.

There was several Sockets in the Tool Rental Program. However, after paying the Rent and the Shipping back and forth you have come close to the price of buying the Laser version of the Socket.

They likely gave you one for the Cummins Diesels that have Inline Bosch Fuel Injection Pumps.
Miller Tool also makes their version for the Cummins.

One of Our Members loaned Me an M type Fuel Injection Pump from a NA W123 and the splined Socket is the same as the Laser I mentioned and I also have a Hazet socket and they both fit that Fuel Injection Pump.
