... wow.
filter is 13.50 at NAPA and that's for the Baldwin officially best filter.
Rotella 15W40 dino oil should be around 12.00/gallon... say 25 at the worst for 2 gallons... $38.50 cost.
I've seen Fram filters 2 for 7.00 on sale at Pep Boys... once a year sale... stock up.
advance sells the Mann filter for 9.00

I just got back from the parts store who sold me the oil in the first place and they were happy to refund me the difference between what I paid for it and what I could have gone for down the street. 17 dollars is the cheapest I could find it. I guess the proverbial Cape Cod tax comes into play on this one.

It's usually about $50 for me to do an oil change. Two jugs of Rotella 15W40, an oil filter, and an air filter (I change it whenever I change my oil since it's usually due anyway).

I use Lubro Moly Diesel Touring which is about $26/gallon. Oil filter about $10 and the inline diesel filter about $3. Usually I do a few other things while I'm at it like a diesel purge $10, and whatnot. Cost for the oil change is about $80 and includes a 6-pack of a beer of my choice.

I rack up about 3000 miles in 45 days tops, so Im thinking of extending my OCI to about 5000.

we are using these diesels for what they were built for - putting the odo on the treadmill.

hehe

Im planning to drive it upnorth to Chicago to meet some freinds, I think my car will like it.

btw - you should add your odo mileage to your signature..

Are those miles for real on your signature? Wow!

That's some serious return on investment there.
As a side note, I always loved the W116 styling. I sometimes think I should sell both my W123s and find me the perfect W116. Maybe someday...

1,244,000 on the first engine. By that mileage, it was low on compression and getting hard to start when cold.

70,000 on this engine since the 2004 rebuild....

On your 95, that would probably work okay. If you're running the miles by that quick, it's probably not getting alot of temperature cycles between changes which is good.

Drain it when it's hot and it will get more of the nastiness out, making the interval work even better.

Just amazing! I didn't think the 617 could survive past 500k without an overhaul, even with routine maintenance. How many transmissions did you go through?

Probably none, assuming he changed the fluid/filter on time and kept the vac system in order.
