I think i found the heat problem and whats this?

A few items here.
I removed the factory antenna today and installed a small rubber whip on my daughters 300D
Now I need an adapter as I want to use the factory antenna cable thats in the car
I want to adapt

this

to this

Autozone dosent have the part and Radio Shack tells me thay dont have car radio parts. Its in their name for what reason?

Does anyone have a link or part number to the adapter?

Then I figured i would just get an extension for the after market antenna . Theres allready and aftermarket radio in the car.
I pulled off the heat control panel above the radio and found this

The red and blue wires come off the heat panel near the temp wheel. Should that white plug be in that spider looking connection?
At the tip of the plug looks like bare wire. I taped it up.
Could this be why the heat pumps not working? How do you fix it?

I also found this crimped off copper tube near the antenna
What is it for?

All you need for the antenna adapter is a Merceses to after market radio adapter that you can get at any decent car audio shop. Cost should be no more then $15-20. But remember, you need Mercedes male to standard female ends on the adapter. The crimped tube is where the toothed antenna cable is stored while in the down position.

Antenna: what is wrong with the existing antenna? Replacement masts available on this site. Radio Shack has totally lost its way, now they are trying to be a cell phone agent.

Bulb: the white socket goes in the spider, this illuminates the rocker switches above the heat controls. The bulb is on a different circuit than the heat system. With a warm engine, set the controls for heating and feel of the body of the aux pump. Or check for voltage at the pump plug.

Tube: that is where the sunroof cable extends into when you open the sunroof. The motor just forward of the antenna moves the cable to open and close the sunroof.

So those are fiber optic lines that transmit light?

Yes that is how the rocker switches for the rear defrost, sunroof, antenna and rear dome light up at night. The black leads are plastic optical fibers.

yeah, (of course that was using water, not plastic or glass it wasn't until 1880 that glass was used for lighting) and optical transmission of VOICE was successfully done in the 1800's as well!!! That Alexander Graham Bell was a smarty pants!

In 1954, Elias Snitzer and Will Hicks (my father in law) helped to develop modern day fiberoptics at the American Optical company in southbridge mass.

The antenna works perfect. Some thug grabbed and broke the antenna and pulled it all the way out. I then cut the mast and crimpped the metal together as a tempory fix. They broke that too.

I think its jealouse kids of her and her MB in school.
Going to a rubber whip hopefully ends the games

A high voltage coil with a capacitor would sure stop it too.
