87 300TD Engine force question

Hello everyone,

I got myself another 1987 300TD and would like to increase force on it up to 500HP. My few questions are:

- What would it cost me (approximately)?
- How reliable would the engine be after the force increase?
- Or is it better to replace the engine with the V8 gas one?
- Will it decrease longevity of the car?
- How will it rev up? Compared to which vehicle? i.e. 0-60, bmw M3, etc

Thank you! I am just collecting information, so apologize if my questions sound weird.

Have you looked into the performance section? I don't know if 500 is possible, but several vehicles have been boosted with larger turbo's and had the Injection pump improved by Myna and a few other companies, but it's NOT inexpensive. the pump work usually is in the multi thousand range, and turbo's aren't cheap either (DO NOT BUY THE CHINEASE KNOCK OFFS!!!)
more than quadrupling the HP of the vehicle has to reduce it's lifespan, but these motors are stout.

why waste a rare car? I would suggest looking at modding a gasser 124 wagon...pleniful and much cheaper to aquire as well.

plus gas engines are for HP....diesels are for torque.

Rarely has anyone increased power by magnitudes without magnitude increases in expense, followed by magnitude decreases in reliability (blown motors and drivetrains).

But we all have to admit it would be fun to watch someone try. The V-12 308 being built out east, the twin turbod and blown Testarossas pushing 1000 HP plus from Norwood, and the turbine Testarossa, come to mind.

Just stick a 606 in a 300TE and boost it and drown it in fuel.

I'm looking to get at least 300-350 HP out of my 606 which should be possible before getting a dieselmenken pump.

Look for a nice '94/'95 E320 wagon and do a v-8 swap. Easier and a nicer body/interior to start with.

If you want to compete with the M30 then you should just get a gasser, an 400E/E420 is a lot cheaper than getting an om606 and going super turbo.

I'm only building a super turbo engine for fun and just to say I did it.
