87 sdl sale feeler

im in the stl area. got a 87 300sdl thinking of getting rid of. dont really want to but got to much stuff and live in a subdivision.

first the paint is DEAD! almost no rust. small spot on drivers rear wheel well about inch or so and some bubbling at the rear door handle. both very hard to notice and thats all i can find. floors and under car is in great shape as it has been under coated. car is was hunter green. tan interior.

could use tires and alignment. as front break rod mounts and bushings have been replaced and a tie rod end. its close enough to drive straight and took 20k miles to wear the inside edge of tires. everything under car is tight front and rear, with new front bilstein shocks and steering stabalizer.

a/c works been converted, vacuum manifold for dash vents is a little screwy.
all windows, locks and sunroof work. cruise does not. needs a new fan clutch.

unknown mileage. clock reads 195k.
engine runs very good and uses no oil and tranny shifts great.
been teens here in morning and starts right up on first glow plug cycle.

car is not new but solid. ive had it for over two years.

wife hates it! i like it but have to many things and i have to force her to drive it. (it gets the best mpg's out of the cars we have,25-33)

any interest? i know to many variables and unknowns but thought i would ask those who appreciate these 300sdl's

From what you described, I would think you could get $2K for it. I wouldn't take less for it.

ok i see it worked.. this is fresh pics of the car tonite as my wife got home.
its been wet, salty and the like around here and i didnt attempt to clean anything up. so all pics are hiding nothing. its dirty and can only get better with a cleaning.

i dont expect someone to come 2k miles to get it. just thought if somebody was in the area and was looking for one.

im honest guy with not much patience for people who are not. i have 11 titles of various road legal things that i keep up. and i stress out trying to keep them all taken care of. im not rich and dont let anyone work on my stuff. so i honestly (for whats its worth in $) would much rather keep it but really have to many toys to feel comfortable so thats why i am maybe looking to sell.

im not the original owner and no tellin how many hands have worked on the car and should'nt have. you guys know what i mean.

2k is what i was thinking was fair. i understand you cant fix everything on these cars as it will melt your credit card quick. there are lots of normal things i have replaced and their are some that arent worth fixing to me. (like the paint) but i hate rust so when i was looking for a 300sdl i tried to find one in my price range that had as little rust as i could stand and with most of its things working. im not gonna be one of those guys that say how rare and collectable these are blah blah blah. its a old car and not perfect but still solid.

i went out looking for one when i bought it not just looking for any beater car. it is what it is and i cant type all that i can think of. so if anyone wants to seriously talk about the car we can on the phone. i will not take 500$ for it nor do expect insane high $ amount. im not tryng to be a A hole but you know what i mean.

thanks for any interest.

That's a good $2k car. Too bad about the paint, nice, unusual color.

Too bad you aren't closer to CA. I could use a backup for my 87 300SDL. Good luck with the sale.

Mine has almost the sme paint job, dash is cracked worse, and no ac. I accepted 2k for it today(fingers crossed). I am doing the transfer on wed.

I love the car but am tired of putting time and money into it. 2k is a little low for yours IMHO.
