epc.startekinfo.com

Or search "Russian EPC"

X2 on the epc. It's free for US members.

I have tried repeatedly to subscribe to EPC and always get an error message. No success even going through their suggestions to solve problem.

You don't show your location. Are you in the US or Canada?

It won't work for us in Canada.

sokoloff 01-14-2013 12:21 PM

From another forum - not sure if this still works for Canadian addresses.

"I came up with a work-around a couple of years ago and posted it at mbworld. See below:

I figured out how to bypass the US resident requirement to register for Canadians!

When you register your address (any US state will do), use the three numbers in your Cnd postal code followed by two zeros. The algorithim that verifies your zip code to the credit card address only looks at the numbers.

For example: if your Cnd postal code is M8Y 2X3 then you would enter 823 followed by 00 as your zip code.....82300.

It works! "

Remove all versions of JAVA on your computer using add or remove programs or programs and features in the control panel.

Go to Java Downloads for All Operating Systems Version 6 Update 38

Download the 32 BIT version of JAVA, version 38, install and retry EPC.net.

32 BIT is required for EPC.net and version 6.

Version 7 or 64bit versions are not supported at this time.

Firefox with Java 7 works fine for me.

Always had issues with EPC. Tried various Java versions and troubleshot (troubleshooted?) using their FAQ. What ended up making it work was opening the proper ports in Windows firewall. The EPC Java app makes connections that Windows doesn't allow out of the box.

That is strange.
Are you running windows 7 in emulation mode?
Is the older 32 bit java still installed?

sokoloff 01-16-2013 10:30 AM

Running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit. Not sure what "emulation mode" means, so I guess the answer is "No."

Java Standard Edition - version 7, update 9

Anyone know it works with 64 bit Windows 7?

JamesDean 01-16-2013 12:17 PM

Works fine on my work laptop and all my machines at home. They are all Windows 7 64 bit.

JamesDean, which web browser are you using and does it matter? Does the Java version matter? I have never been able to get Startek to work. I'll go try installing it again tonight.

JamesDean 01-16-2013 12:25 PM

I usually launch it from Chrome. But I have had no problems with Firefox or IE.

As far as I can tell the website just downloads a file and that file is executed so it should really be browser independent.
