WTB Low mile/mint 300D/300CD/350SD/SDL

Hey guys, my aunt has been bugging me to sell her my 300D and so I told her I would help her locate a low mileage / good condition diesel sedan or coupe. She would prefer any color other than black / white (though not a deal breaker). Anyone have one / know of one that meets the above description? Under 150k miles. I'm in Houston Texas, prefer a non rust belt car as well.

Thanks guys!

I would shy away from the 3.5 litre engined cars though because of the engine issue. She is aware these cars can require a fair amount of maintenance?

I am seeing indications reciently that a lot of milage indicated on the newer type speedometers is not right. It just does not add up correctly. I thought this practice had stopped but apparently still not. So buyer beware is really to be kept in mind.

How much $$$ is she prepared to spend (BUDGET) on it?

Yes we are aware, budget is open, just depends on the car.

None of those are in prime condition, either to many miles or they need work. Looking for more of a turn key car.

HoustonM3 01-27-2013 11:41 PM

Needs to be a turbo, if its a 300d would prefer it be an 85

As long as it's a Federal car and not the California version with the O2 trap .
Good Luck

I never really thought i would sell my diesel, but everything has a price. My E300D was a special find that was a one owner (doctor in San Antonio) who always took it to a dealer for everything (not that much actually since it had only 32k on it when i bought it). Anyway, if she is looking for something MINT, then you have a few things to consider:

1. It will cost you a lot
2. There are lots of cars out there that claim to be Mint, because they either put a crappy Maaco paint job on it, wiped the tires clean and replaced the speedo.
3. The current owners will have attachment issues letting the car go.

from the above, #1 and #3 apply to me. My car is not really for sale, as i see myself teaching my 3 year old to drive in this car.

E300D Photos by arcticathlon | Photobucket

-1995 W124 E300d White
-44,500 miles (recent oil change)
-Khumo KH21 80,000 mile tires with only 6,000 miles on them
-As mint as you can get a car of this age. This car looks in better shape than most 2008 cars on the road.
-Everything works except the temperature sensor in the front license plate. i mean everything else, most people just say this in the ads, but it is true for me.
-Added Ipod connection to stock radio (looks soooo much better than a crappy Super Flashy new stereo receiver)
-Added a Auto dimming Rear View mirror with Compass, and Homelink (3 garage door opener buttons)
-Added Huper Optik DREI Ceramic Window Tint ($600) Ferrari of window tints, compares to nothing.
-You can laugh, but i am not letting this go for less than $15k. Considering that you can probably not find another car in this shape, this age, this mileage, this should be on your list if you are really looking for mint.
-Live in SW Houston, so no cross country travel needed to pick up the gem you found on ebay.

Cheers

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the 1985 to, say, the 1984? I've heard it said that the 1985 has many oddities that may be difficult to replace if they fail, whereas the '84 doesn't have these fusses, as 1982-1984 cars are all interchangeable. Some of the 1981s came with turbos, but they used the 300SD engine/transmission such that when ordering some parts (e.g., cruise control parts), you need to order W126 parts.

Because of the better final drive ratio, they are more comforable for freeway driving.
