Could a machine shop add 10 pounds to an OM616 flywheel?

Has anyone done this? How much does it cost?

I suppose he wants to gain the coveted 38# flywheel instead of his 28# flywheel.

What happened to the 38# FW you mentioned in your other thread?

Some where there is a thread on this question.

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

My kit is going to be released about the first week of May, it includes a nearly 40lb flywheel of a larger diameter to use that weight even better, and bolts to a readily available five speed overdrive manual. People swap Ford and GM small block V8s into 126 bodied cars, so the transmission I have in mind should fit.
Yeah, it doesn't use a Mercedes transmission, but there is a ZF model that will bolt up.
I will be offering a kit for automatics about six months after the manual one, provided there is interest. This will give a variety of hydraulic and electronic overdrive auto options, but will require additional parts and electronics depending on the transmission.
I think this would go a long ways to ending the "how-to" debate, and potentially save people a lot of money and stress over a lot of bits that weren't brought here in any real quantity.

Someone beat me to it -- I sent an inquiry to the seller, and then it occured to me that it would not be coming with a clutch, so I wanted to see whether or not this should be a cause of concern to me.

Also, there is a guy in the area who has a 1983 300TD with a 4-speed, and it *may* have a 38#, but I'm not sure. He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth, though, so I am considering my other options.

The clutch for the 300D flywheel is the same as the kit for the 240D flywheel.

Right, that's what people said here. Looking at my FSM, it looked that way, but I just wanted to make sure.
