W124 Wagon 3rd row seat disassembly
Hi folks,
Hoping some of you who either removed or installed a third row seat can share some knowledge. The recessed flip up pull for the third row seat back section literally came off into my hands. It is secured via two bolts mounted from the back side of the carpeted floor panel side into the pull assembly. This means that to reattach, I would need to remove the seat back foam from the carpeted floor panel. It seem as the only way to remove the seatback foam is to remove the whole floor section/panel from the car and then see if there is a trick to disassembly. Any tips on removal of the seatback panel, or whatever is appreciated, Thanks

How to DYI
OK folks, some info from my experience...
To remove the seat back you need to first open the cover, [IMG][/IMG] remove the trim around the seat belt receivers (4 wood screws) [IMG][/IMG] this exposes two mounting screws for the seatback. Remove these: [IMG][/IMG] Remove the end cap securing screws on each side: [IMG][/IMG] Then lift and swing out the end cap from the bottom side (next to the panel hinge). When doing this you want to apply some downward pressure on the endcap (on the side you took the securing screw out) and simultaneously lift outward from the bottom. Be careful like many MB plastic parts have little mounting clips on the backside that must be pried out and they will likely break. Each end cap has two of these clips an upper and lower. Be careful, I snapped two of mine, luckily only one per side. I glued the broken clips back on, but even if you dont the end caps have shrunken enough that they fit tightly back on, but save them if you can. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] This reveals two more seatback mounting screws. Remove them and the seatback can be lowered slighly to release from the top trim center clip and then you can remove the seatback completely. This reveals the location of the lift handle mounting screws, just below the center trim cap. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Apply some threadlocker reattach the lift handle and reassemble in reverse order of removal. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

My early and my late 87 wagon have different from each other methods of mounting the third row seat... I'll take pics, and post them here...
and yeah, I moved the thread to Diesel discussion...
