Thank you Frank,

I do have all the Gen 2 latches and grill which I would use.

So the hinges are the same?

Hinges are the same; they stay with the body structure. Open the hood to upright, remove the clips from the pins, remove the aft pins, swing the hood down, remove the forward pins. But you know all that already!

Perfect!

Frank I really appreciate the info.

Needless to say I have a Gen 1 hood picked out and I will pick it up.

Thank you again for the quick answers,
This was a pretty old thread and I wasn't sure if I would even get as response.

The interior (seats) from later cars will fit in the early ones with some minor wiring changes and loss of the memory function. (unless you are crazy and re-do ALL the wiring). I have '91 350SDL seats and visors in my '82SD.
Hoping to get a reply even though this is an old thread. I’m trying to fit seats from the facelifted 88-91 models into my 86 560SEL. PawoSD here mentioned it was possible but some minor wiring changes are needed. Does anyone know what wiring changes need to be made?
