Lube head bolts?
Do I need to lube the new head bolts for my 1979 240D?
The holes have all been tapped, I was taught to soak headbolts in oil but am questioning weather that is correct or not... |

Soaking wouldnt be required, only a light coating of oil would be.

Definitely NOT 'soak' with oil. A light coat, as wingas writes, and remove most of that.

OM603 FSM calls for oiling the top of the bolt where it meets the head. It is because the nut needs to be turned for 90 degree. Should be the same for OM616.
