What have I missed? Rain Gutter removal
Trying to get the ..cowl gutter(?) off of the 83 td I swear I've undone every fastener, but it's acting like it's still connected. Pics Below.
took the nut (13mm) and the wiper arm off knocked out the cowl grill pins Came off fine: Undid the screws Pried off the rubber Passenger attachment point cover Pulled off the 19mm nut and washer Next up, these guys, punched them out ..and now I don't know what to do... I kind of suspect there's something more to do here But I'm not sure.. It doesn't want to come off. What am I missing? |

It appears that the windshield gasket is holding it in. You may have to remove the windshield in order to remove the cowl.

I removed that from my '83 when I had it repainted. Lift it from the section under the hood and it will come out from under the windshield gasket. No need to remove the windshield. Insert the rear edge under the gasket first when reinstalling it. I trust you know that you have to remove the 4 plastic rivets after you punch out the locks. With a little luck, you'll find the locks for re-use.

Got it!
Ok the problem was that the seal around the wiper stem is amazingly tough stuff. I worked it with a pick and after a minute or two was able to lift it right out. Here's the seal, it's pretty sticky and decayed; Okay, so any idea on the part numbers for the plastic rivets from the front of the cowl, I'm afaraid I lost one on the grill retention bits too. Parts number magicians, I summon thee. I would really like to replace the sealing strip under the panel, it seems not-so-fresh. |
