That's a six-speed MANUAL in the dash!

See this -- you may be able to have one imported (though I imagine it's a little pricey...).

This is true. I like the ones made 10-20 years ago much more -- I actually got to ride in one of them when we were in Finland (a friend had one). It was a nice van.

I guess SwampYankee would try to figure out a way to put a hood stack on that thing .

Is it front or rear drive?

I'll cast my vote for pretty much ANY new diesel vehicle sans the new emissions garbage. That way I can buy a new car and still run my biodiesel 100%

1. Toyota Hilux Diesel X7 (I think, isn't that what we're up to now? Ever since the top gear polar expedition special I have wanted one!)
2. Land Rover 90 Diesel with LHD
3. Smart Fortwo Passion Cabriolet 450 cdi (we have one, but would love another! )

Top Gear Polar Expedition, Outback Japanese Imports

Satyr...I think that might be the documentary I was refering to in post #14. I am watching it now to see.

The polar expedition of Top Gear is season 9 episode 6.

I gathered the guys were in Resolute Bay, N.W.T (Canada) but had that red Hilux shipped over from a customization treatment in Iceland. Jeremy is driving on the RHD version.
Not surprisingly, it is a nice example they have been given, I now see why they are popular.... a beautiful looking truck.
Did they make a LHD version of the Toyota Hilux?

Jooseppi Luna....that Outback Japanese vehicle importer place you linked seems to be sold out of everything. I looked and could only find one LHD vehicle on the whole site (looked like a local vehicle). I guess some of those different vehicles are only availible in RHD or can you get all versions in LHD?...... cool site!

There were definately alot of diesels offered over there...

T/G Episode over, I thought they did more on the tech of the vehicle, must've been a different show I saw in that regard. The way Jeremy drives that thing at the end makes me think the show has to purchase some of these vehicles, although it seemed to come through o.k other than the fuel tank falling out and spilling fuel all over the virgin tundra.

What did you think of his trailer hitch mounted #2 depository? I would put some heat tape on the seat to prevent things from piling up...geesh!
-52 Celcius.

Season 15 episode 1 James tries to drive a Toyota Hilux up an active volcano?

Hilux is leading.

The Nissan Safari Patrol is my favorite in the SUV sector of the diesels. Does it come in LHD, anywhere on the planet?

After seeing the Misubishi Delica that is the van like vehicle I had confused with the Hilux in post#3. And it was a surf edition Hilux not a beach edition that I saw

My understanding is that most of their vehicles are special-order. They do warn on the site that it may take them several months to find the car you're after.

I'd strongly consider buying an E220cdi + 6 speed manual wagon if they ever offered it here. That'd be an amazing vehicle.
