Thank you for the replies. After lots of forum research and testimonials, I will be going with all new OEM weatherstripping. What's the point of buying a part for 1/3 the cost that leaks and does not fit correctly?

I'll post some pics of the application when I get to it. Thanks again guys.

Use my thread for reference it contains all the p/n's you need including clips that WILL break. The $250 cost per piece is WAY too much, it costs nothing to ship from Germany (through the dealer), mine was around $120 (see thread below)

A 1981 240D and 1983 300D should have the same seals. There was a cutoff in early production, documented in this thread, just an FYI:
