Part needed- egr connector for 96 w210 e300d

Hey everybody- recent work on the e300 snapped the wire I've soldered twice previously on the connector/plug that hooks up to the egr on the om606, and the "check engine electronics" display is driving me crazy, and the wire has now snapped off below the plastic so it can't be soldered again. I have called around and no boneyards in my area have MBs. Does anyone have one to sell or know where I could locate one? I'll attach a pic to clarify what it is I need (3 wire type egr electrical connector.) Please post/pm thanks. -John

It may be possible to take the black plastic case apart, in which case you could re-do the wiring. Otherwise, new connectors may be available at an MB dealer. Check the connector for a part number.... Ahh, I see only Bosch numbers on mine -- the connector may be part of the cable, too bad, you don't want to know what the entire cable costs. If the connector can't be fixed, search for small female spade connectors that match the male terminals in the EGR valve. You'll end up with three connectors instead of one but the electrons won't care. You could also post a "wanted" in the parts section of this forum. It's possible that other/all 210s use the same connector. Make sure you get a connector with a few inches of wire so you can solder to your wires.

That looks like a generic old style bosch fuel injector connector - and is usually sold as is with about 6 inches of wiring with it.

you can also take out the little metal contact connectors inside - you need two pins taped together to do that. repair or replace wire as you wish and use heatshrink. It uses generic bosch pins, I have bought them via ebay once and - they were some odd VW parts with 12 inches of wire on them.I believe VW, MB and other european dealers will be happy to sell them to you

Or scrap yard is a good choice for connectors.

Thanks for the replies! I'll post something in the "wanted" section and look on ebay. Do we have a forum member who has a salvage yard, or do our members regularly purchase from a salvage yard that they could recommend, that I could email or call to order/purchase this connector?

Never found an EGR plug/ EGR connector used, or new anywhere for the e300- so I have ordered the SMP version online. If for some reason it doesn't work out, I'll post back. Thanks Silver! -J

Just to follow up. I couldn't find this plug in a search on pparts, (or Auto-moan, or In-you-pants Auto, or Crappa, etc.- I worked at a western auto as a freshman in college, so we had LOTS of those...) Anyway, after a fairly exhaustive search, I found the connector plug for the E300 EGR on ebay for $15. I've soldered it in, and while I'm still getting a "Check Engine Electronics" display, I have no reason to believe that it has anything to do with the Standard S745, which fits perfectly and has nice 14ga wire, in contrast to that crap 24ga mercedes used originally...

So thanks Silver!
