Installed my new to me 716.2 trans
My young buddy Danny was on spring break and told me he had a friend that had a new twin post lift we could use for the day. Did we make fast work of that swap job. We started at 9:30 AM and had it back on the road at 12:15 PM. That is a fast record for 100 year old people, as Dan is 20 and I am 80. Danny did most of the work! Oh it is sooooo nice! so quiet in 1st and 2nd I can hardly believe it. And the car is so quiet now that I have the exhaust properly mounted. Oh the noise was getting to me, (and I am hard of hearing). My wife says even the cat can't hear me coming in the driveway now! Jory, the forum member I bought it from says the transmission was owned by a Mercedes Mechanic, (he also said old German) who had it for a spare for his car. Evidently the man "passed on" before he used it. I think he hand picked one he knew was good. Even the shifting is stiff and straight. Feels like a real low mileage transmission to me.
