Question Can't figure out this cable/line connects to

I'm wondering what this cable is and where it may connect to. It's from a 1984 300D turbodiesel. It's got a banjo fitting on the end and reaches to the exhaust manifold when fully stretched (no futher). It appears to run behind the valve cover along the firewall, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where it connects to or what it's even for. From where it's dangling in the photo, it goes into the cabin with the rest of the vacuum lines. Any ideas? Thanks!

If it is a whiteish/clear plastic tube, it could be the boost line that connects to the rear of the intake manifold (banjo fitting), and the other end goes to the ALDA with an overboost protection valve plumbed in-between. If it is a thinner black plastic line, that could be either the trans modulator vacuum line, or a vent line not routed or connected correctly. I see no photo, so I am just guessing. I have an '84 300SD, so I have a good reference....Rich

Sorry, I kept getting an error uploading the image...here it is below. The color of the cable was probably clear originally, but has it aged and is a bit yellowed. I see no T-connections or anything else, just the single banjo fitting.

That bolts onto the backside of the intake manifold via a banjo bolt.
You are probably down on power I would imagine!
The other end goes to the top of your injection pump, (alda valve) via a solenoid mounted to the firewall. Many like to bypass that feature
How does a car from Pasadena get so much corrosion in the engine compartment?
