Is there no oil pressure as verified by looking into the valve cover (meaning no oil flow)?

Or is there no oil pressure as indicated on your oil pressure gauge?

If it is the latter, it may be your oil pressure sender. This little device is located under the oil filter. Access is a pain on a OM603, W124, and probably similar on your SD. It has only one wire that runs to it. Search on this website and you will get directions for where to find the sender. And if it is the problem, when you disconnect its wire, the indicated oil pressure will peg at its highest level. Then you have found your problem, and the new part costs $50 or less (depending on what brand you need). Hope this is your problem, because it is alot easier/smaller job than if you actually have no oil pressure.

That model engine can drop the windage tray bolts into the pan. Bolt gets into the pump and locks it.

I have a used pump available.

I was reassembling my engine (completely) when the engine was out I turned crankshaft to rise oil in the engine manually before starting engine.Start adding oil (pump start rising oil in the system)after cranking with starter oil came back to oil pan.Dip stick was showing in the middle (no over max). Pump down?how much $$$$ for used pump?

$30 + postage. Time to pull the pan and do a complete inspection. May not be the pump. The bolt problem I mentioned happens when the engine is in service, not during assembly. I can be contacted at northamerican22@aol.com, John

If you're reassembling the engine it might just be lack of prime. I'm a little out of my element here, but you might be able to pull the injectors and get more speed. I've heard of people packing the oil pump with grease to get prime after a rebuild. You might also be able to hook up two batteries in series to spin the starter for a very few seconds with 24 volts. Anyone know if the Bosch would handle this?

I'm sure others will chime in with ideas.

Work back from the shutoff valve. There aren't that many things that could be bad between the valve and the pump.

The central locking is run by a pump in the trunk, not engine vacuum.

Vacuum goes from the small line going to the brake booster, to the key switch, then to the shutoff valve. Sounds like you have a leak at the key switch.

The trim below the steering wheel is easily removed, pop off the plastic covers and you'll see the screws, and remove the gray plastic retainers from the bottom by giving them a 1/4 turn.

If the engine was apart, then the oil pump will not be able to overcome the check valve in the oil filter housing, if the oil duct between the pump and the filter housing was not primed.
When assembling the engine, instal the filter housing first, turn the block upside down, fill the duct from the pump to the filter housing with oil and install the pump.
Now it's to late for this, but you can loosen the 4 bolts of the filter housing , pull the housing away from the block and crank the engine till oil oil squirts out.
No oil pressure after assembling a 60x engine is a common problem.
