Cooling issues

Finally I put my '84 190D on the road and noticed that my temperature gauge was climbing, especially on long inclines. After reaching about 100C I stopped the car with the engine running and opened the coolant reservoir. It was full to the top. Upper and lower radiator hose was hot. I squeezed the lower hose and a big air bubble escaped. The coolant level went to normal and the temperature fell to normal. I could drive the car with no issues for a whole day until I drove on the freeway and the same thing happen again. There is no oil in coolant and no water in engine oil. Any suggestions?

Time for a combustion gas leak test. NAPA sells a "block tester" to do it.

At idle everything seems to be normal. How can I do the test while driving?

Does that model have the same issue with airlocks that the 123 models have?

Possibly. I removed the aux. fan switch from the thermostat housing and filled reservoir with fluid until overflowed. I will test drive in a few days. BTW the 201 doesn't have a radiator cup only a reservoir cup.
