85 300TD Euro wagon rebuild

The slow rebuild of my 85 Euro 300TD is on it's way.

Already did new glow plugs, adjusted the valves, replaced all vac lines under hood and replaced one of the engine mounts. New tires. Replaced the trans filter and fluid (old stuff nice and red!) And of course new Oil.

Today it got a new set of Bilstein HD shocks and brand new 5 year 900cca battery. I put a message in to Pelican to get the rest of the needed front end suspension parts and body mount rubber ordered so I can have them in the car within the next 2 weeks.

After that is completed I need to get a new set of booted rear axles from Vstech and have them installed. Mine are working but have been wrapped in intertube rubber by PO...

Then, ( in order of importance) should be as follows...

AC rebuilt. (planning on Rollguys kit) Important to fix being my main driver here in GA. Going to be Hot as all get out this summer.

All new brakes/rotors (almost due)

Full repaint.

Then

Interior and carpet fixes.

At that point I'm thinking of rims.

This car is my keeper so I want to do things slow and correct on it as I want it to last me a long time. I already drive the car back and forth to work, so I put 2-3 hundred miles a week on it.

No new picture for this thread, but it will be the thread I slowly update as I go from here on out for this car.

Plenty of pics in this thread of the car ... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/326157-any-able-read-data-card.html

Good for you, I'm sure you'll feel a world of difference with the new front end! And I'll follow your rebuild because it will inspire me to get the AC working again in my wagon. Summers can get hot up here too, and at least with the 300TD, I should still be able to drive with the AC on (something that wasn't always possible in my poor 240D, especially merging into traffic or going up hills, where I had to turn off the AC... )
