Sux that NJ raised their taxes a few months back. It used to be worth going through NJ for the cheap diesel fuel. I heard that in PA they raised our gas taxes 8 cents for the New Year.

Gasoline, diesel and renewable diesel have been so cheap for so long I don't even give it a second thought anymore. WVO which used to cost money can't even be given away anymore. Why bother?

What's nuts is that 30 years ago diesel was much cheaper than gas. Of course, it was harder to locate than it is today.

Here in Canada, as of Jan 1st we have a new carbon tax/cap&trade program that will add about 6.1c/litre to diesel at pumps. (23c/gal). Gasoline going up about 17c/gal.

Sounds like a lot, but we do about 25k km/yr (15.5k mi) and that is just C$115/yr or US$85. No big deal.

Even more nuts is kerosene and heating oil used to be cheaper than gas or diesel.
Now it costs MORE, but it's still dyed and illegal for automotive use!

Lol add $1.20 for West coast prices. Diesel is on par with midgrade at the moment.

In Canada, diesel for our GLK250 is almost always cheaper than Reg gas. We spend time in SC, and there, diesel is usually cheaper than Premium (which our other go-south car uses). But more than Regular.

Current prices in Kingston, Ontario at one station (Canadian cents/litre)
Reg 132.3 (US$3.86/gal)
Mid 142.3
Prem 147.3
Diesel 121.6 (US$3.44/gal)

IN SC this winter we were paying about US$2.38/gal for diesel at Kroegers after the 30c/gal rebate for grocery purchases. In NY state on way home, prices were more like ours were at the time. Right now, in Watertown, NY, it is about US$3.19/gal for diesel and US$2.95/gal for Regular.

With many manufactures stopping imports of diesels, maybe the demand for diesel will go down and prices will drop? Wishful thinking?
