Mystry Parts Please Help Identify

The first part is truly a mystery. Please look at the picture and see the blue thing I pointed out. I have looked at several W123's in the junk yard and none of them have this part.

The second picture is of a vacuum check valve. I know that. What I don't know is if you can buy that valve somewhere. See I broke mine and it caused the car not to shut off and the trans to shift like crap. Fortunately one of the cars in the junk yard had this same booster hose so I got it replaced. But If I could buy the check valve by it's self I could make up this line with rubber hose in the event of another break.

What year is your W123, 1985? I think the 85 has the 'blue saucer' which controls the tranny. It is a vacuum amplifier. Most members repair the check valve. There are a lot of write-up on how to do it. They put an insert in there to strengthen the break then apply JB weld.

Sorry. It is a 85 300D. I am not sure why my signature is not showing up. So the blue thing is just for the trans? I figured something for cruise control. Which I can't seem to figure out how to make work either.

Blue Flying saucer

The blue disc referred to is what we here call the BFS Blue flying saucer. It smooths the shifts for the transmission, usually only found on 85 models I think, maybe others also. This can be bypassed if need be. tHEY CAN AND DO BREAK I have mine set up with the bypass. Let me know if you want picts.
The other hose setup comes off the brake booster and I think is heatshrinked into the whole part, not easy to dis assemble. I think we all break those nipples off....ere one us do...even lil ole me did. Check the buy parts tab up top and they can get you a brand spankin new one in a jiffy...THE ENTIRE SETUP NOT JUST THE nipple part....from now on gotta be careful w/ 20something yr old plastic...or should I just give you the list of things to buy now?? hehhe...just jokin...go easy on the plastic stuff and you will be a big weiner!!! Without that hose workin properly, you can expect a very hard brake pedal too...get er done buddy!! Or you cn unplug all that go to it and use golf tees to plug the lines and test one by one which is working or not...do you have a mighty vac? If not, a good tool to buy. Harbor Freight has then reasonably priced, metal handle is the best so far.
If'n you got hoses or vac lines run across over to the pass side of the vehicle just about all them can be disconected and plugged..no use for dumpin more soot into your engine, cause it aint gonna clean itself out!! Foller me here? Some members have made special plates to block off those egr nasties...whunter I think is one to contact about it, ifin ya are wantin a nice clean look, otherwise you can just remove those lines that cross on over to the other side....BFS usually 1985 or laTER.
Keep us posted on your figgerins???!!! Post a few pictres too!!
Pardon my french just having some fun tonight..had a very rough week..I am sure many many more will chime in and help also

I like having fun. Fortunately I did get it fixed and on the road. And yes it was my fault that the nipples broke. I was replacing the fuel primer and lets just say I leaned wher I shouldnt have I would love to see some pictures of your BFS delete. Does it make the tans shift harder? To be honest when I broke off the nipples I drove the car just to see and it shifted real firm and fast like it had a shift kit in it. I kinda liked it. I was thinking about doing some cutting and splicing and moving the vacuum hoses and tucking them away along the outside of the engine compartment. Partly to clean up the engine and partly to keep me from tearing them up every time I work on it.

My shifts are at a good tolerable setting for me, before the fixes it shifted hard and clunked and just jerked me unless I was careful w/ the pedal. That is one cool thing about this car, there are a lot of adjustments you can do for the tranny. Mine had a broken plastic piece inside of the tranny modulator. That part attaches to the actual tranny, and regulates shifts hardness too. So with my BFS bypassed and the modulator fixed the shifts are pretty smooth for me.
Right now I am noticing kinda lower power so gonna have to get my awesome mechanic friend back over. 79mercy. He usually does all my work.
So I think he will have to go thru all the vac hoses and see which ones are leaking. Makes a big difference having the vac lines operate properly. They contol a bunch of stuff including a/c trans, door locks, brakes, shutoff..etc.
Here is a diagram for the delete stuff you can do as far as the vac lines. I believe all lines that cross over to the pass side are for the egr, and that just dumps the soot back into your engine, and fouls a lot of things not needing to be fouled and fixed later because of it.

Behind the manifold is a banjo bolt that attaches to the exhaust. A banjo bolt if you dont know (I didnt until I got this car) is a round bolt that has holes in it that allows fuel or other things to pass through it, there are a few on our cars, this one should have plastic tubing attaced to it. If you CAREFULLY remove this bolt AND DONT DROP ANYTHING into no mans land, it usually has never been cleaned and is so gunked up, maybe you can get it cleaned and notice some improvement from your engine. If you follow the lines over to the drivers side it should attach to the switchover valve on the firewall and then to the ALDA. Later when you have things sorted you can make some adjustments to the ALDA and get noticeable improvement. But dont mess with this until you have things top shape. You could do much damage adjusting this before you have everything top notch. SOme guys will remove the ALDA all together...but I am getting way ahead of myself...those are performance mods...right now you gotta get familiar w/ your new toy!!
Check your valve adjustments too. You can get good results from adjusting them, most used ones have not been done in years. I have the diagrams for that too if needed, also I am sure they are here in forum in numerous places

Your car is an 85 300D federal not california? That is what this diagram is for, iirc I think there are directions for cali model too, I did not look closely at the picture but think both models are there.
Get your mighty vac and that will save you a ton of headaches. It is about $20 bucks at harbor freight. It will pay for itself in no time.
This should at least get you a few ideas about your "new" car...have fun

If any of my info is incorrect I am pretty sure someone can correct me, but I have had my car now for about 2 maybe 3 yrs and all of my knowledge has mostly come from this wonderful forum...and some other experiences w/ diesel trucks..so any way hope some of this is of help to you...and anyone else please chime in...

Grasshoppa, if you look you will find. Look beside name at top right of page. Look here and see search link. Now look at simple search or look at advanced search. Either way if one look one will find path to enlightenment and everything will look better.

Seriously, BFS and vacuum/booster line have been covered to infinitude.

Here's a freebie to get help you on your way.

Remember to look.
